Tacoma schools shutting down?!

So in English class we were reading an article about schools shutting down in Tacoma. I mean how cool is that? not very... All those kids that went to that school (Hunt) are being relocated to two other higher performing schools such as Mason Middle School and Truman Middle School. I just hope that the kids get lots of education like us students in Olympia. After all it's the people around the children that help them grow and succeed.
As for the school district in Tacoma... i think they're making the right decision about closing down some schools and embracing the new teaching styles for the kids benefit. Sure it might be a little spendy on cash for the adults.. but it's probably worth having your kid going to collage instead of living in a box on interstate five picking up unwanted furniture that randomly falls off of moving vans and such. I know that the schools probably had no other choices over any of the things that was going on with the schools, and yes they probably knew that their scores were low but its all being changes for the better of the learning process. Over all i think the schools are making good decisions.

That makes me wonder... if my school was a low performing school then what would I do? this question really makes you think... it would have to depend on the students environment at the campus. if it was a pigsty and had graffiti all over the walls and food fights everywhere then I would probably try and encourage the school that we need more safety and should enforce the rules more.

If Olympia high school closed down?! why would it close down!? its an amazing school with great teachers! i would not even begin to understand why they would close the school down (the district isn't going to close OHS down I'm just saying how i would feel)! I would not be happy about the school closing down at all... I'd be losing my friends who are practically family, and I'd probably go insane (not that I wasn't already). And all the great teachers I would probably never get to see ever again... Here's a link if the Tacoma school reformations and closures interest you: Tacoma schools

Hmm technology

A few days ago we watched two videos about the future with technology and how it is good for us and how it is bad for us. Also for whats going to happen when we depend on technology too much and not enough. Many things that might not even become a real treat unless invented.
one thing the video said that really hit me in the gut was the part about college...
"by your fourth year of college everthing you have learned will be obsolete." that could really hurt some people if they knew; they would probably stop trying at what their trying to achieve.
Another thing that hit me was that most of the things that kids are learning today is training for the jobs in the furture that DON'T EXIST YET! that is kind of scary to think about...
